Prime Minister Narendra Modi reacted to the disqualification of Indian wrestler Vinesh Phogat from the women’s 50kg event at the Paris Olympics and said the "setback hurts". Vinesh Phogat was disqualified after being weighed "few grams over" the permissible limits on Wednesday (August 7) morning. "I wish words could express the sense of despair that I am experiencing," PM Modi said. He described Phogat as a champion among champions and said she epitomises resilience. "Come back stronger! We are all rooting for you," the Prime Minister said. Phogat has been disqualified from the Paris Olympics 2024 after failing to meet weight requirement for her 50 kg gold medal. She was over the permissible weight limit by just 100 grams. The 29-year-old had scripted history becoming the first female wrestler from India to reach an Olympic finals.
