In a case of mistaken identity, three monks from the Nath community were apprehended by locals in Prahlad Nagar, Lisari Gate area of Uttar Pradesh’s Meerut, who suspected them of being fraudulent and suspicious. The monks were threatened and intimidated with sticks before being taken to the police station. Upon checking their Aadhaar cards and conducting a thorough investigation, the police found the accusations to be baseless. The monks, identified as Gaurav, Gopi, and Sunil, were residents of Darvamajri village in Yamunanagar, Haryana. Local people accused the monks of tarnishing the Hindu community's reputation and even suspected them of child abduction. However, the police confirmed that the monks were legitimate members of the Nath community, with no criminal history. They make their living by travelling and had valid identification. The village head and local police from their hometown also verified their identities. The police subsequently released the monks. Inspector Jitendra Singh of Lisari Gate stated that the allegations against the monks were unfounded, and they were cleared of all suspicions. The police also said that reports that the monks were beaten were false and baseless. Uttar Pradesh: Man Escapes Unhurt As Bike Plunges Into Sewer in Meerut Amid Incessant Rainfall, Video Goes Viral.
