The Uttar Pradesh government has introduced its Digital Media Policy for 2024, offering substantial financial rewards for individuals who promote and advertise government schemes on their social media platforms. Content creators can earn up to INR 8 lakh per month for positive endorsements. The policy categorises influencers, agencies, and firms into four tiers based on their number of subscribers or followers. According to a statement issued on Tuesday, influencers on platforms like X (formerly Twitter), Facebook, and Instagram can earn up to INR 5 lakh, INR 4 lakh, INR 3 lakh, and INR 2 lakh per month, respectively. For YouTube content, payments are set at INR 8 lakh, INR 7 lakh, INR 6 lakh, and INR 4 lakh per month, depending on the subscriber count. However, the policy also enforces strict measures against objectionable and anti-national content.
