The Supreme Court on November 13 instructed the Ajit Pawar faction of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) to refrain from using images and videos of Sharad Pawar in their campaign for the upcoming Maharashtra Assembly elections. The Court emphasised that the Ajit Pawar group must contest based on its separate identity and instructed party members to avoid using Sharad Pawar's likeness in promotional material. The ruling came after Sharad Pawar's legal team presented evidence showing the use of his images in violation of a previous Court order. Justice Surya Kant remarked that, , "Whether or not it is an old video, with Mr Pawar you have an ideological difference and you are fighting against him. Then you should try to stand up on your own legs." The ruling is part of an ongoing legal battle between the two factions of the NCP following their split in 2022. Maharashtra Assembly Elections 2024: Supreme Court Asks NCP’s Ajit Pawar Faction To Publish Disclaimer on ‘Clock’ Symbol Within 36 Hours.
