Train Ticket Reservation: Indian Railways Reduces Advance Ticket Booking Period to 60 Days From 120 Days Ahead of Diwali Festivities
Indian Railways has cut the advance ticket booking period from 120 days to 60 days, effective November 1, 2024, in preparation for the upcoming Diwali festivities and increased travel demand.
Indian Railways announced on October 17 that the advance reservation period for train tickets will be reduced from 120 days to 60 days, effective November 1, 2024. The decision, communicated through a circular from the Railway Board, maintains that existing bookings made prior to this date under the 120-day advance reservation period will remain valid. While cancellations for bookings made beyond the new 60-day limit will still be allowed, the advance reservation limits for certain daytime express trains, such as the Taj Express and Gomti Express, will remain unchanged. Additionally, foreign tourists will retain the option to book tickets 365 days in advance.
