In a significant move to ease commuting costs, the Maharashtra government has announced a complete toll waiver for light motor vehicles at all five toll plazas entering Mumbai. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde revealed the decision during a cabinet meeting on October 14, stating that cars can now pass through the Dahisar, Mulund, Vashi, Airoli, and Thane Naka toll booths without incurring any charges. Previously, motorists faced a toll fee of INR 45 for entering or exiting the city through these points. This toll exemption is seen as a strategic initiative ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections aimed at benefiting local commuters. Eknath Shinde Inaugurates Chheda Nagar Flyover, Attends Inaugural Landing of IAF C-295 at Navi Mumbai International Airport (Watch Videos).
