A junior doctor at Sri Venkateswara Institute of Medical Sciences (SVIMS) in Tirupati was violently attacked by a patient while on duty, with the incident captured by CCTV. The footage shows the attacker, Bangaru Raju, violently grabbing the doctor by her hair and banging her head against a steel bed frame. The video shows other doctors rushing to her aid while pushing the assailant away. Reportedly, in a letter to SVIMS Director Dr RV Kumar, the intern detailed the assault, noting the absence of security personnel and expressing concerns over workplace safety. The doctor highlighted that the situation could have been far worse if the attacker had been armed, and has called for enhanced security measures. In response, hospital doctors staged a protest, demanding improved safety protocols.
