The Supreme Court has ordered the formation of a new Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate allegations of animal fat used in laddus distributed at Andhra Pradesh’s Tirupati temple under the previous YSRCP government. This decision replaces the SIT set up by the state government. The new SIT will be supervised by the director of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and will consist of two CBI officers, two state police officers, and one official from the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI).
