In a shocking incident of disrespect to the Indian National Flag, a video has surfaced on social media capturing a young boy's disturbing act on the occasion of India's 77th Independence Day. The incident occurred in Basirhat, West Bengal, where the boy was caught on camera climbing onto the rooftop of a building adorned with both the Tricolour and a saffron flag. The boy brazenly removed and discarded the saffron flag before targeting the Indian National Flag. The video depicts him tearing down the Tricolour and throwing it onto the ground, followed by defacing some posters on the building. BJP leader of West Bengal Legislative Assembly, Suvendu Adhikari, expressed deep shame and condemnation over the incident, emphasising the significance of respecting the national emblem. Adhikari stated, "I Hang My Head in Shame," before highlighting the legal implications of such acts, referring to the Prevention of Insults to National Honour Act, 1971.
