Farmers from Tamil Nadu, who have been staging a protest at Jantar Mantar in Delhi, escalated their demonstration by climbing atop a mobile tower on Wednesday. Approximately 200 farmers have congregated in the national capital, armed with their ploughs and flags, to voice their dissent against the central government over issues such as river-linking and low crop prices. A video from the scene captured the farmers scaling the mobile tower to press their demands. They were later brought down by officials. The farmers have issued a stern warning, stating that if the government fails to address their concerns, they will contest elections against Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Varanasi.
