'Sulli Deals' Return on Clubhouse, Priyanka Chaturvedi Lashes Out At Centre Over Inaction on 'Such Blatant Bullying Tactics'
"Can’t turn a blind eye to such blatant misogynistic and bullying tactics," Priyanka Chaturvedi lashed out at Centre over inaction in "Sulli Deals" case.
Shiv Sena MP Priyanka Chaturvedi on Monday lashed out the Centre over inaction in "Sullli Deals" case after a video surfaced on social media in which online auction of women was held on platfoms like Clubhouse. In the video shared by a Twitter user, several men could be heard using abusive and sleazy language against women. Team Saath organisationn urged prominent lesders, including Chaturvedi, Shashi Tharoor and Pawar to raise the issue.
The organisation tweeted, "Requesting @priyankac19 @derekobrienmp
@ShashiTharoor @Pawankhera to please speak against this dangerous trend where women who disagree with this regime are being made to pay the price of their dissent by making them objects of auction & their bodies a topic of filthy discussion."
Replying to Team Saath, the Sena MP said that the government could not turn a blind eye to such blatant misogynistic and bullying tactics. Chaturvedi tweeted, " Because GoI looked the other way with Sulli Deals, we have a more emboldened version of objectifying women who differ. I continue to follow up on the Sulli issue, will take this up too. Can’t turn a blind eye to such blatant misogynistic and bullying tactics."
Earleir reports also surfaced that dozens of Muslim women in India found they had been put up for sale online, on "Sulli Deals", an app and website that had taken publicly available pictures of women and created profiles, describing the women as "deals of the day".
