A woman in Noida Sector 49, identified as Instagram influencer Anwesa Dey, has alleged sexual assault in her gated society. In a viral video, Dey claimed she was assaulted while out in the rain at a nearby park. She reported that a stranger groped her and ripped her shorts before fleeing when two other women intervened. Dey accused Noida police of inaction, stating they refused to file a complaint and blamed her for being outside during the rain. She also claimed that CCTV footage was unavailable despite the society being under surveillance. Responding to the viral video, the Police Commissionerate Gautam Buddh Nagar issued a statement on X, confirming that a written complaint was filed on August 3. The statement assured that an FIR was immediately registered under strict sections, and that the police are examining CCTV footage from the location and surrounding areas. The police vowed to take strict action promptly. Dey, in her video, described the assault and expressed her fear over what could have happened. She criticised the police response and the non-functional security cameras in her society. She urged viewers to stay safe and alert, regardless of gender.
