Sikkim High Court Upholds Conviction of 24-Year-Old Who Committed Rape on His Grandmother After Accused Challenges Judgment of Fast Track Sessions Court

The Sikkim High Court recently upheld the conviction of a 24-year-old man for committing rape on his maternal grandmother, aged about eighty years. The division bench of Justice Meenakshi Madan Rai and Justice Bhaskar Raj Pradhan passed the order on the appellant's challenge against the judgment of the Fast Track Sessions Court. According to a report in Live Law, the victim was living with her daughter, son-in-law and their son, the appellant. When the victim's daughter returned from visiting West Bengal, she could not find her mother at home. Later, she found that her mother was at their neighbour's house and refused to return home.
