In an official statement, Jaiswal said that Farcis is an OCI (Overseas Citizenship of India) card holder and requires approval to carry out journalistic assignments under the MEA's regulations.
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) recently clarified after French journalist Sebastien Farcis claimed he was forced to leave India after the MEA refused to renew his journalist permit. Refuting Sebastien Farcis's claim, MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said that Farcis' application to renew his work permit was still under consideration. In an official statement, Jaiswal said that Farcis is an OCI (Overseas Citizenship of India) card holder and requires approval to carry out journalistic assignments under the MEA's regulations. "He has re-applied for renewal of his work permit in May 2024," Jaiswal added. He also said that Farcis' case is under consideration.
