A woman named Bhargavi Mani lost over INR 87,000 in a cyber scam at Bengaluru International Airport while attempting to access a lounge without her physical credit card. She was directed by lounge staff to download an app called “Lounge Pass” and complete a facial scan for security. Although she didn’t use the lounge, she later realised her phone couldn’t receive calls, and strangers were answering them. Upon further investigation, Mani discovered her credit card had been fraudulently charged and funds transferred to a PhonePe account. She believes scammers accessed her phone to intercept OTPs and complete unauthorized transactions. Mani has reported the incident to the cybercrime department, notified her bank, and blocked her card. The airport authorities have reached out to assist her. ‘Digital Arrest’ Scam in Uttar Pradesh: Woman in Sonbhadra Loses INR 2.9 Lakh to Cyber Criminals, 1 Accused Arrested.
