A Mumbai court has sentenced Shiv Sena (UBT) leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Raut to 15 days of simple imprisonment in a defamation case filed by Medha Somaiya, wife of BJP leader Kirit Somaiya. Medha, a professor at Ruia College, accused Raut of making baseless allegations about her and her husband's involvement in a INR 100 crore construction scam. The court convicted Raut under Section 500 of the Indian Penal Code and imposed a fine of INR 25,000. The case was filed through advocate Vivekanand Gupta.
