The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested Dr. Sandip Ghosh, former principal of RG Kar Medical College, on Monday over allegations of ‘financial misconduct’. Ghosh was taken into custody at the CBI Anti-Corruption Branch following his arrest by the agency's special crime branch. His arrest comes after the Indian Medical Association (IMA) suspended his membership, where he previously served as vice principal of the IMA Calcutta branch. The decision was made unanimously by the IMA's disciplinary committee. RG Kar Medical College recently gained media attention after a postgraduate trainee doctor was raped and murdered on August 9, leading to the arrest of a civic volunteer Sanjay Roy.
