The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) is not considering re-introducing the Rs 1000 note, sources said on Friday, October 20. The development comes after rumours claimed the RBI could bring back Rs 1,000 notes into circulation. It must be noted that the RBI has announced the removal of Rs 2,000 currency notes from circulation in mid-May this year. In July, the Finance Ministry cleared rumours stating they were not planning to reintroduce Rs 1,000 notes again in the economy.
