In Bhopal, an Agniveer from the Indian Army, Mohit Singh Baghel, and six others were arrested for looting jewellery and cash worth over INR 50 lakh from a jewellery shop at gunpoint. Baghel, posted in Pathankot, was on leave and in Bhopal to meet his brother-in-law. He allegedly planned the robbery to pay off his brother-in-law’s house loan. On August 13, Baghel, along with Akash Rai, stormed the shop, holding an employee at gunpoint, as seen in a viral CCTV video. After fleeing with the loot, police launched an investigation, scanning around 400 CCTVs and identifying Baghel. Bhopal Police Commissioner Harinarayanchari Mishra stated that Baghel conducted a recce of the shop before the crime. The other arrested individuals include Akash Rai’s family members and a friend who provided the pistol.
