Tamil Nadu's Coimbatore district police on Sunday, June 16, arrested four people for allegedly waylaiding a car and assaulting the vehicle on Salem-Kochi highway. The alleged incident occurred in the early hours of Friday, June 14. A video of the alleged assault and robbery attempt has also gone viral on social media. The 31-second video clip shows a car stopping a Kerala-bound vehicle on the Salem-Kochi highway. As the video moves further, a few men supposedly belonging to a gang are seen approaching the car and vandalising the vehicle with weapons in an attempt to rob those in the four-wheeler.
