A freight train loaded with diesel derailed near Ratlam late Thursday night, resulting in one tanker overturning and a significant diesel leak. The spill caused a drainage area nearby to fill with diesel, resulting in a looting frenzy among locals who rushed to collect the fuel in buckets and containers. The derailment occurred around 10 PM on the up track of the Mumbai-Delhi railway line, affecting two trains and leading to the rescheduling of five others. According to DRM Rajnish Kumar, the goods train was en route from Baroda to the Makhania depot near Bhopal when two tankers derailed between Ratlam’s E-Cabin.
