Shiv Sena (UBT) leader and Rajya Sabha MP Priyanka Chaturvedi recently shared a written response of Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw after she asked if concession on railway tickets are still applicable for senior citizens and sports persons. Sharing Ashwini Vaishnaw's response on X (formerly Twitter), Chaturvedi said, "So Railways has categorically decided to not restart senior citizens and sports citizens concession which was stopped during covid." Responding to Chaturvedi's question, the Railways Minister in his written reply to the Rajya Sabha said that Indian Railways gave subsidy of INR 56,993 crore in 2022-23. Speaking about concessions, Ashwini Vaishnaw said concessions beyond the subsidy amount are continuing for several categories including people with disabilities, patients and students.
