Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, met with railway trackmen at the Delhi Cantonment railway station on Tuesday, wearing a helmet and orange luminous vest as he discussed their challenges. In an Instagram post, Gandhi said that trackmen are among the most neglected employees in the Indian Railways, despite their critical role in ensuring safe rail travel for millions. Gandhi noted that trackmen walk 8 to 10 kilometers daily, carrying 35 kg of equipment, yet face limited opportunities for promotion and inadequate safety measures. He highlighted the alarming statistic that around 550 trackmen die each year in work-related accidents due to insufficient safety arrangements. Gandhi urged the government to address their demands, including providing safety devices to warn of oncoming trains and allowing trackmen to sit for departmental exams to advance their careers. Rahul Gandhi Targets BJP Over ‘Continuous Attacks on Minorities Especially Muslims’ After Haryana Lynching, Assault on Elderly Man Inside Train in Maharashtra.
