The Punjab and Haryana High Court recently rejected the bail of a man who has been accused of cheating by taking money for assurance of a visa and work permit abroad for the complainant's children. The court observed that the accused defrauding gullible complainant "points towards the dangerous trend of the revival of thugee." The high court bench also said that the sly way the petitioner and his accomplices conned, tricked, deceived, swindled, and defrauded the gullible complainant points towards the dangerous trend of the revival of thuggee. "Although the complainant also knew that they were paying money to get a Visa through illegal means, and undoubtedly, later on cried foul, it is just like the kettle calling the pot black, but a con cannot seek bail because of the victim's stupidity," Justice Anoop Chitkara said. Punjab and Haryana High Court Upholds Divorce Order Granted to Couple, Says Wife Expecting Husband to Leave Elderly Mother, Sister with Unsound Mind Unattended Amounts to Cruelty.
