The Thane police’s Anti-Extortion Cell raided Sitara lodge in Ulhasnagar on Tuesday night, rescuing 15 women from Bangkok, Thailand, who were allegedly forced into prostitution. The women were lured to India under false job promises. Five individuals, including the manager of Sitara Lodging and Boarding, were arrested and charged with human trafficking. Police seized INR 5.27 lakh in cash and other evidence during the operation. Senior Police Inspector Shekhar Bagde confirmed the arrest of Kuldeep alias Pankaj Singh and stated that investigations are ongoing to trace those involved in the trafficking network.
