Two prisoners escaped from Haridwar’s Roshanabad jail on Friday while participating in the annual Ramleela performance. Inmates Pankaj and Rajkumar, serving sentences for murder and kidnapping, were playing the role of ‘Vaanar’ (monkey) in search of Sita. Although Sita was found during the play, the prisoners never returned, fleeing by jumping over the boundary wall with the help of a ladder. The jailbreak, discovered around 8 pm, has sparked concerns over prison security. Haridwar District Magistrate Kamendra Singh called it a case of gross negligence, assuring strict action against the jail administration.
