On the eve of Independence Day 2024, President Droupadi Murmu approved 103 Gallantry awards for Armed Forces and Central Armed Police Forces personnel. The honours include four Kirti Chakras (three posthumous), 18 Shaurya Chakras (four posthumous), one Bar to Sena Medal (Gallantry), 63 Sena Medals (Gallantry) (two posthumous), 11 Nao Sena Medals (Gallantry), and six Vayu Sena Medals (Gallantry). In addition, 39 Mention-in-Despatches were approved, including a posthumous award to Army Dog Kent for contributions in various military operations such as Operation Rakshak, Operation Snow Leopard, and Operation Sahayata.
