Taking to X, the Indian Prime Minister said that the emergency day reminds people how the Congress party subverted "basic freedoms and trampled over the Constitution of India, which every Indian respects greatly." PM Modi further said that back then, the Congress Government disregarded every democratic principle and turned the country into a jail. He also said that people who imposed an emergency in the country have no right to profess their love for the constitution. Escalating his attack, PM Narendra Modi said that the same mindset that imposed the emergency is "very much alive" among the party that imposed it.
