After hoisting the Tiranga, PM Narendra Modi addressed the country and spoke about several issues, including the space sector, hosting the Olympics in India, atrocities against women, etc. During his speech at Delhi's Red Fort, PM Modi pitched for the Uniform Civil Code while terming the current civil code "communal". He also spoke about atrocities against women taking place in the country and called for extensive discussion on such issues. He also said that a fast-tracked investigation of crimes, especially those committed against women, should be done. In his Independence Day speech, PM Modi also spoke about India's transformation in the defence sector and toy manufacturing. While lauding the Indian athletes for making the country's flag high at the Paris Olympics, PM Modi extended his best wishes to India's Paralympic contingent.
