In its post, Mumbai police said that IMD has issued a warning of heavy rain with thunder and lightning in Mumbai and suburbs till September 26 morning. "Requesting all Mumbaikars to stay indoors, until essential. Please stay safe. Dial 100 in case of any emergencies," the post read. The development comes after the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a red alert warning for Mumbai till September 26, 8:30 am. IMD forecasted thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and intense spells of rain with gusty winds reaching 40-50 kmph at isolated places in the districts of Mumbai, Palghar, Nandurbar, Dhule, Jalgaon, Solapur and Satara during the next few hours.
