Spiritual leader and Juna Akhara's Mahamandaleshwar, "Pilot Baba", whose real name was Kapil Singh, passed away at 86 today, August 20. According to reports, "Pilot Baba" breathed his last at Apollo Hospital in Delhi. It is reported that his final rites will be conducted in Haridwar. Originally named Kapil Singh, "Pilot Baba" was a Wing Commander in the Indian Air Force (IAF). This title later earned him the moniker "Pilot Baba". It is said that "Pilot Baba" was a fighter pilot in two wars with Pakistan before he renounced the world to embrace sainthood. It must be noted that Pilot Baba had claimed to have met Ashwatthama, the legendary warrior from the Hindu epic "Mahabharata". Pilot Baba had said that Ashwatthama was living among tribes in the Himalayan foothills.
