Gujarat ATS arrested a spy from Tarapur town of Anand district for sending sensitive information to Pakistan on Friday, October 20. SP Om Prakash Jat stated that Gujarat ATS received input from military intelligence that a Pakistani spy was using WhatsApp on an Indian SIM Card. The latter was reportedly sending Remote Access Trojan (RAT) malware to access phones and stealing sensitive information, while the SIM Card was issued under the name Muhammad Saklain Thaim from Jamnagar. “After activation, the SIM card was delivered in Anand, Tarapur to a person named Labhshankar Maheshwari on the instructions of a person associated with the Pakistan Embassy. Maheshwari was a Pakistani citizen who came to India in 1999, he got Indian citizenship later. His extended family is still in Pakistan. His extended family is still in Pakistan”, Jat added. The concerned WhatsApp number is still active in Pakistan and is targeting the family members of the Indian Army personnel, he added.
