Kerala Health Minister Veena George, on Monday, September 16, listed 104 individuals in Malappuram district as having been categorised as high-risk due to the ongoing Nipah virus outbreak. The district has 175 people under surveillance, including 74 healthcare workers. Among these, 126 are on the primary contact list, and 49 are on the secondary list. As per a report by ANI, 10 people are undergoing treatment at Manjeri Medical College Hospital, and samples from 13 contacts are awaiting test results. This comes after the death of a 23-year-old student from Malappuram, leading authorities to mandate mask use across the district.
