Today, October 1, CJI DY Chandrachud expressed displeasure over the emerging practice of different counsel mentioning the same case for listing. While addressing the issue in the Supreme Court today, CJI DY Chandrachud said that his discretionary powers as CJI would not be used to accommodate such tactics. "This is a new practice. Different counsel mention same case for listing and once a judge blinks, you get some date. This is the practice which is emerging. A little bit of discretion which I have as the CJI will never be exercised in your favour," he added. CJI DY Chandrachud also said that his personal credibility was at stake and that the court must adhere to standard procedures for listing cases. "You cannot take the Court for a ride. My personal credibility is at stake. I have to follow standard rules for all," he stated. ‘No Part of India Can Be Called Pakistan’: CJI DY Chandrachud Reprimands Karnataka High Court Judge Justice Vedavyasachar Srishananda As Supreme Court Closes Proceedings on Suo Moto Case.
