Virali Modi, a specially-abled woman, took to social media X, formerly twitter, to share about the inconvenience she faced at the marriage registrar’s office in the Khar area of Mumbai. She shared her ordeal on Wednesday, October 18. Virali wrote on social media that she had to be “carried” up two floors because the building had no lift and officials did not agree to come down to get the signatures. She further wrote that despite her having informed her agent that she is wheelchair bound, no accommodation was made for her prior to the appointment. Maharashtra’s deputy chief minister Devendra Fadnavis took cognisance of her tweet and assured her that appropriate action in this regard would be taken. “First of all many congratulations on the new beginnings and wishing you both a very happy and a beautiful married life! Also, I really am sorry for the inconvenience caused to you. I have personally taken cognisance and will take corrective and appropriate action,” Fadnavis wrote on X.
