In a surprise ticket-checking drive on August 23, Western Railway authorities cracked down on ticketless passengers traveling on AC local trains between Churchgate and Virar in Mumbai. The operation, conducted on the Mumbai suburban section, resulted in penalties for 413 ticketless passengers and 178 passengers with irregular tickets. A total of approximately INR 2 lakh was recovered in fines during the drive.
