Western Railway has announced a 35-day mega block starting August 27 to facilitate the construction of a 4.5-kilometre 6th line between Goregaon and Kandivali stations. The mega block will be conducted over five weekends, each lasting 10 hours, to minimize disruption. The work, critical for infrastructure upgrades, is expected to be completed by October 6, with a pause from September 11 to 17 due to the Ganpati festival. The construction requires the shifting of all five existing lines to the west side of Malad station. This will affect suburban services, with 100-140 train services canceled and around 40 services short-terminated on weekends. Additionally, long-distance trains from Bandra Terminus will face delays of 40-45 minutes on select dates. Western Railway plans to carry out the majority of the work during night hours to reduce weekday disruptions. Vadodara Rains: Western Railway Cancels Several Trains Due to Waterlogging at Bajva Station, Check List of Affected Trains.
