The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted the onset of the Southwest monsoon over Kerala by May 31, marking an early start to the rainy season. The forecast indicates very heavy to extremely heavy rainfall for the state over the next three days. The IMD’s prediction aligns closely with the usual onset date of the monsoon around June 1, with a possible deviation of four days. This early arrival of the monsoon is expected to bring much-needed relief from the summer heat, particularly in regions experiencing high temperatures. Meanwhile, Delhi is expected to see a respite from the ongoing heatwave starting June 27. Kerala Weather Forecast: State to Receive Heavy Rains; IMD Issues Red Alert in Some Districts for Three Days from May 18.
