A major incident was narrowly avoided on Wednesday morning when a commuter's mobile phone burst into flames while he was playing a game on the monorail. According to an official from the Maha Mumbai Metro Operation Corporation Ltd (MMMOCL), the incident occurred at 9:35 AM at GTB station. No injuries were reported. "The battery of a passenger's mobile phone caught fire, causing brief commotion. Our staff and security team promptly evacuated the commuters and conducted safety checks on the affected train," the official said. Emphasising MMMOCL's commitment to safety, the official noted that all trains are equipped with fire-fighting equipment and that procedures were swiftly implemented. The incident occurred just as the train stopped at GTB station, facilitating the evacuation. MMMOCL has urged passengers to take precautions with mobile phone usage, noting that excessive use can overheat batteries and lead to such mishaps. Mobile Phone Blast Kills Assam Commando: Man Dies as Cell Phone Explodes While Charging in Hailakandi.
