The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued yellow and orange alerts with heavy rainfall for several parts of Maharashtra districts until June 10. As per the weather department, rainfall activity will likely increase over Maharashtra with heavy to very heavy rainfall from June 8. IMD said that the Southwest Monsoon has further advanced into a few parts of the central Arabian Sea, most parts of Karnataka and some more parts of Maharashtra. The weather agency has also predicted light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds (40-50 kmph) over Konkan and Goa, Madhya Maharashtra and Marathwada during the next five days.
