A 29-year-old man from Maharashtra recently approached the Bombay High Court and sought directions to mask his name from order copies available online which were being thrown up on Google search. The man informed the court that the orders in a rent dispute which appeared while searching online via Google search engine, affected his marriage prospects and violated his right to privacy. The petitioner's lawyer, Mayank Bagla, told the court on Tuesday, August 6 that as the petitioner is a young individual, the presence of such information not only affects his marriage prospects but also his credibility. The division bench of Justice BP Colabawalla and Justice Firdosh Pooniwalla are likely to take up the matter in two weeks.
