Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde hailed the exemption of toll fees for light motor vehicles at five key entry points into Mumbai as "a historic decision and a masterstroke." Speaking to the media, Shinde emphasised the long-standing issue of traffic congestion at toll booths, stating that people from across Maharashtra had been demanding relief and even approached the court for a solution. "I have come up with a solution, our Mahayuti government has provided relief to light motor vehicles by exempting them from toll fees," he said. The CM noted that this initiative would not only save commuters time but also reduce pollution and fuel consumption. The exemption applies to toll gates at Dahisar, Mulund, Vashi, Airoli, and Thane Naka, aimed at easing congestion and improving traffic flow. Shinde expressed confidence that the decision would significantly benefit daily commuters entering the city.
