A new Guinness World Record was set at Mahakaleshwar temple in "Mahakal Ki Nagri" Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh with 1,500 Damru players performing together at the temple premises on Monday, August 5. They gathered in groups of 25 and played Damrus to the tune of Bhasma Aarti on Shaktipath on the third Monday of Savan month (Sawan Somwar). It broke the previous record of 488 Damru players held by Federation of Indian Association New York. The adjucator of the Guinness World Records, Rishi Nath, presented the official Guinness certificate to the winners at the Mahakal temple. Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav also extended his heartfelt congratulations in a tweet saying, "A wish to make the city of Baba Mahakal resound with the sound of damrus has come true today." Prayers Offered at Ujjain's Mahakaleshwar Mandir, Kashi Vishwanath Mandir in Varanasi and Other Temples on Third Monday of Sawan Month.
