Several wads of banknotes have been recovered from the residence of 38-year-old Kailash Khatri in Madhya Pradesh’s Bhopal, who claims to have been working in the money exchange business for the last 18 years, police said. Khatri’s operation involved collecting damaged notes in denominations of Rs 5, Rs 10, and Rs 20, taking a commission, and providing new notes to customers. The recovered cash includes both damaged and new notes, and counting is currently underway. However, Khatri has not provided any documentation authorising him to conduct such operations, raising questions about the legality of his business. The Income Tax Department has been informed about the situation, said police adding that they have stated that if the cash amounts to more than Rs 10 lakhs, they will take cognisance of it. As the counting of the recovered cash continues, further action is still underway. ED Raid in Ranchi: Huge Amounts of Cash Recovered at Home of Household Help of Personal Secretary to Jharkhand Minister Alamgir Alam (Watch Video).
