A driver was accused of killing a puppy by running over it with his car, however, the Madhya Pradesh High Court recently rejected the First Information Report (FIR) against him. According to Justice Subodh Abhyankar's analysis of the CCTV footage of the incident, petitioner Sarvesh could not have been responsible for the puppy's death since he was unaware that it was sitting on the corner of the road. The defendant was charged earlier this year for violating Section 11 of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act (treating animals cruelly) and Section 429 of the Indian Penal Code (mischief by killing or maiming cattle, etc., of any value or any animal of the value of fifty rupees) for causing the dog's death in December 2023.
