In what can be seen as bad news, nearly 179 children have reportedly died in the civil hospital in Maharashtra's Nandurbar in the last three months. Speaking about the death of children, Nandurbar CMO M Sawan Kumar said, "Looking at the data 75 deaths in July, 86 deaths in August and 18 deaths in September till now happened in Nandurbar district." Kumar said that the major reasons for the deaths of children are low birth weight, birth asphyxia, sepsis and respiratory diseases.
