The Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPI(M)) is celebrating a significant victory as party leader Mohamad Yousuf Tarigami has won the Kulgam Assembly seat in Jammu and Kashmir for the fifth consecutive term. In a celebratory post on X, CPI(M) congratulated Tarigami, stating, “In a historic fifth consecutive win, comrade Md. Yousuf Tarigami keeps the red flag of the CPI(M) flying high!” Tarigami secured a total of 33,634 votes, defeating his nearest rival, who was backed by the Jamaat-e-Islami and various other organizations, by over 8,000 votes. According to the Election Commission of India (ECI) website, he leads by a margin of 7,838 votes.
