A District Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum (DCDRC) in Ernakulam, Kerala, recently ordered the Kerala Matrimony to pay Rs 25,000 as compensation to a man who alleged that the matrimonial services website had failed to find him a bride. The consumer court held Kerala Matrimony liable for a deficiency in services and for failure to facilitate the finding of a match for the complainant's wedding. The court asked the matrimonial company to refund Rs 4,100 to the complainant in addition to the compensation of Rs 25,000. The district forum passed the order on May 15 after concluding that there was a deficiency of service on the part of Kerala Matrimony. The forum also stated that the complainant was one of several "victims" of the matrimonial website, based on public opinions from social media that were produced by the complainant to support his case.
