Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has deleted his post regarding state reservations in the private sector for local citizens, or Kannadigas. This follows reports that the government, led by CM Siddaramaiah and Deputy CM DK Shivakumar, had cleared a bill in a cabinet meeting to mandate 100 percent reservation for Kannadigas in Group C and D jobs in private companies. However, Labour Minister Santosh Lad clarified that job reservations in private firms are capped at 70 percent for non-management roles and 50 percent for management-level employees. The controversy arose on Tuesday after Siddaramaiah announced the decision on X (formerly Twitter), expressing the government's intention to ensure Kannadigas have ample job opportunities in their state.
