Gussadi folk dance master Kanaka Raju has passed away. The news was confirmed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who took to social media to condole his death. In his post on X (formerly Twitter), PM Narendra Modi said that he was saddened by the passing of Kanaka Raju, a prolific dancer and cultural icon. "His rich contribution to preserving Gussadi dance will always motivate the coming generations. His dedication and passion ensured that important aspects of cultural heritage can flourish in their authentic form," his post read. Raju was also acknowledged by the Centre for his contributions to promoting the folk dance by awarding him the Padma Shri. Kanaka Raju, who was also known as Gussadi Raju, reportedly passed away on Friday, October 25, due to age-related issues.
